Winslow is located in Navajo County east of Flagstaff between Flagstaff and Holbrook along Interstate 40 on the banks of the Little Colorado River. Winslow is ideally located on I-40 at the junction of State Highway 87 in the high desert of Arizonas northeastern plateau. The elevation is 4,850 feet. This peaceful town is centrally located on the western border of Navajo County, in the Little Colorado River Valley, less than 200 miles northeast of Phoenix.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 10,684, an increase of 1,405 since 1990.
Winslow is a popular travel destination because of its spectacular views of the Painted Desert and the San Francisco Peaks. Historic Old Route 66 runs through the center of Winslow, and it is bordered by the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation.
